[OoC: Each player is allowed to enter only one character, and rounds will move every 24 hours, or after every participant has posted. If you need extra time, please don't hesitate to let me know, so I can extend the deadline accordingly! Lastly, this event is NOT set in hard mode, meaning your characters CANNOT die and will NOT receive permanent injury for making silly mistakes. Lastly lastly, remember to have fun! And feel free to ask your great uncle Tako any general questions you might have!]
As a new blanket of darkness settles over Telluride City, a thick, nearly opaque fog fills the air, obscuring the vision of those even with the highest perception. All vehicles have cleared the roads, and most people have locked themselves indoors, preparing for what they believe to be a cold front. The gusts of wind almost sound like whispers in the night, and power outages seem to be attacking random parts of the city, more frequently, as the night goes on.
What is your character doing on this strange, cold night?

Pippin was wandering aimlessly in wide circles outside of Tent City. They hummed quietly to themselves, seemingly oblivious to the darkness and wind. The whispers were nothing new to them, as they assumed they were just something else inside their own head.

Mirabella just finished the closing lifeguarding shift at the beach. She decided to walk home instead of taking the bus, getting her home just after nightfall. She changed out of her bright red one piece swimsuit and into a running outfit. Tight, dark green leggings with a matching sports bra for tonight, she decided.
Clipping her pepper spray to her keychain, Mira plugged her earbuds in and took off around the block for her nightly jog.

Atlas opened his eyes, and rose up from the bench he sat on.
"Hello???" he called out, hearing his call echo in the streets.

Effigy would be in his apartment, responsibly making sure all his devices were fully charged and he was appropriately stocked up in case he couldn't leave his home for a few days.

Suddenly, a powerful gust of wind blew over Pippin, Mirabella, Dymtre, and Atlas. Any and every light around them seemed to brighten, illuminating the opaque fog, until all they could see were their hands, but only barely, when they lifted them in front of their face. And then, a whisper gently caressed their ears...
“Will you play a game with me?”
The voice was of a little girl, sweet and innocent, but… distressed. It sounded as if she had been crying, for hours upon hours.
The power in Effigy’s apartment would suddenly go out, and all of the devices he so carefully ensured were charged, he would come to find were completely dead. Suddenly, there was a knock at the window. It was soft, at first, but the longer it went unanswered, the louder and more aggressive the knocks got.

A game?
...
A GAME? ? ? ? ? ?
Pippin bounced up to their toes at the mention of a game, peering around in the thick fog, a brilliant smile lighting up their faces. "Of COURSE I'll play a game with you!" they squealed excitedly, and continued to move through the fog despite the fact that they couldn't quite see where they were going. "What kind of game? What are the rules? Where do you want to play it? How do I play?"

Dymtre completely oblivious to what was happening would just smile as he heard the voice.
"I would love to play a game with you, especially if that will make you happy!"
He said wanting to cheer up the sad girl!

Effigy would stare on as his devices went out. A power surge? One that killed everything? He hoped there wasn't any permanent battery damage.
Then there was a knock. Not one to ignore things of that manner he would reach his hand out and cause his plants by the windows to grow vines that opened the curtains.

Atlas scanned his surrounding area, trying to find the source of the voice. "Show me your position and I would be delighted."

Mira flattened herself on the ground and froze. Whatever that wind was... whoever's voice that was... none of it was normal. She attempted to look around her surroundings, but there was nothing she could see.
Slowly crawling to the edge of the sidewalk, Mira waited.
"Hello sweet child... Are you okay?" she gently called out. Then she waited again, waited and listened.

At their responses, the fog around Pippin and Dymtre dispersed into the air, and they would immediately notice that they were no longer in the place they were just a few moments ago.
Pippin found themself in the middle of a living room, but something about it was… surreal. The furniture was oddly proportioned, and everything seemed alive with impractical color, as if it was all made of plastic. They would notice that there was no light, yet, everything seemed so bright!
“Close your eyes and think of something small, something beautiful, that you would give to someone as a gift. If you can find it, I’ll make it real.” The voice cooed out, bringing an overwhelming sense of conflicting comfort and sorrow over them. Though, whether they understood those feelings was up for debate.
Dymtre found himself in a large, dark, empty room, and while he could not see, he could certainly feel the emptiness. Any word he spoke would echo back to him after a delay, and every step he took on the hollow floor sent an empty ‘clacking’ sound into the stale air. Yet, despite the emptiness, he could sense a presence, somewhere, and couldn’t help but want to find it.
“Think of something small, something beautiful, that you would give to someone as a gift. If you can find me, I’ll make it real.” The voice cooed out, bringing an overwhelming sense of conflicting comfort and sorrow over him.
As Effigy sent his vines to open the curtains, the window flew open, and a heavy gust of wind filled his apartment, knocking everything around! After a moment, it calmed, and an apparition appeared in front of him. It shone with a ghastly blue, and barely illuminated the area around it. Within this image of a person, he could not see the person. It was just an empty shape.
“I’m so lonely. Will you play a game with me?” A little girl’s voice gently caressed his ears, and an overwhelming sadness washed over him. He would note that any plants he had growing, despite being knocked to the floor, seemed to bloom in her presence.
The fog around Atlas and Mirabella seemed to thicken even more, despite this, they could almost make out a shape of a person in the distance. Yet, no matter how hard they tried to maneuver through the fog, they couldn’t seem to get any closer to it.
Then, the voice spoke again, and an overwhelming sadness fell over them.
To Atlas, “But that would be cheating. You don’t wanna ruin the game, do you?”
To Mirabella, “I just don’t wanna be alone anymore. Please play with me?”

Pippin was smiling from ear to ear as they ended up... wherever they were. It didn't much matter to them. They took a moment to look around at the living room that surrounded them, attempting to pay particular attention to the furniture. What did it look like? How disproportionate was it? Next, they would look for a window or door, just out of curiosity, before closing their eyes. Something small. Something beautiful. A gift. That was easy enough.
They thought of a compass, maybe one that could be worn as a necklace, so that no matter where somebody ended up, they would never be lost. That seemed like a good gift, right?
They opened their eyes, then, and looked around at the room once more. They would move towards the couch, first, deciding to look for their compass between the cushions. That seemed like the obvious answer... and the obvious answer was always the right one, right?
While they searched, they decided to chat it up with the little child. "If YOU could give anyone a gift, what would it be?" they asked.

Atlas stepped toward the figure, but quickly realized it was to no avail. A strange feeling swept over him, however. One he hadn't felt in.. what seemed like forever.
He dropped to his knees, confused and overcome with melancholy. "I.. no I suppose I don't want to do that." It was nearly overwhelming, the sensory and emotional overload. The bright light, the mysterious voice, the disappearing of every object around him; he couldn't even see the ground he sat on. Moreso, he was inexplicably saddened, yet utterly confused and somewhat scared. What was this girl doing?

Effigy would quickly brace himself against the wind. He would notice the figure and quickly close off his posture. The wave of sadness causing his hair to become more messy and wavy. As he did his hair and all of his plants would glow blue. But as he noticed they seemed to bloom differently with her, he would look his eyes over curiously.
As the figure spoke, he would respond, intrigued.
"Yes, just please let me pick up my plants really quickly." before he quickly would run around, picking up plants and using his own powers to cause some to use their roots and such to pick themselves up. They were clearly important to him.

Dymtre pondered for a moment before speaking.
"Uhm... do you mind if we play a different game? You see... I'm blind. Which means I can't see anything. So hide and seek isn't a game I can play very well. But I'd still like to play with you, and you don't have to give me anything, I would just enjoy your company!"
He would say with a smile.

The room around Pippin was spacious and bright with brilliant color, and the furniture was no exception. Everything was massive, as if it were made for people three times their size. The more Pippin looked, the more they saw: there was a massive door behind them, though the knob was too high for them to reach by themself. There was a window adjacent to it, and light spilled in from the outside, but otherwise there was nothing of interest there. Across from the window was a staircase, one that just kept going up, and up, and up… and didn’t seem to reach an end. There was a coffee table in front of the couch, and two bookcases, on opposing sides of the room, filled to the brim with novelties and knick-knacks. Though, they weren’t close enough to see the stock. Lastly, there was a cuckoo clock laying on the ground, next to the far bookcase. It looked like pieces were missing.
As they searched under the couch cushions, they would not see the compass they wished for. Instead, they would find a pink, wooden key, hooked to a keychain with a flower charm attached to it. The voice whispered in their ear again.
“I would give them a hug, so they would know they’re real,” She cooed, “Everyone likes hugs, right?”
“But I wanna play hide and seek…” The voice whined out to Dymtre, “I promise I play fair! I made it extra easy for you!” She exclaimed. Fortunately for him, she wasn’t lying. The room was empty enough that he wouldn’t bump into anything, and it was impossible to get lost since it was one, giant room. All he had to do was follow the girl’s voice.
The apparition in front of Effigy simply hovered there, ghastly winds swirling around it as it waited for him to pick up his plants. Once his attention was focused on the apparition, a simple question would be asked: “Will you play a game with me?”
At Atlas’ submission, and Mirabella’s compliance, the fog around them dispersed into the air, and they would immediately notice that they were no longer in the place they were just a few moments ago.
Atlas found himself in a playground, next to a bench similar to the one he was sleeping on. The streetlights shone bright on the various pieces of equipment scattered around, making it easy for him to identify everything. There was a swing set, a sandbox, a makeshift carousel, monkey bars, tube slides, and a rest area.
Mirabella found herself back at the beach, except, the ocean was on both sides of her, the tides gently lapping at the land. If she looked behind her, there was darkness, and there seemed to be nothing of interest on either side of the ocean. In front of her, in the distance, was a faint light. She would have to focus on it to see it, but it was definitely there, and the more she walked, the brighter it got.
Then, the voice whispered in Atlas and Mirabella’s ears once more: “Close your eyes and think of something small, something beautiful, that you would give to someone as a gift. If you can find me, I’ll make it real.”

A hug, hmm? Pippin began to make their way over to the cuckoo clock first, as it was most interesting to them. They doubted they would find a compass there, but they were already distracted from that thought.
"And what would YOU want somebody to give YOU? A hug, too? Do you want to know that you're real, too?"
They smiled as they began to look through the different pieces of the clock, trying to identify what was missing.
