Jasper would nod. He was a bit concerned about that. He would convey that with a softer expression.
"Is there anything I could do to help?"
Ultimately, Jasper cared about the solution, not prying into a closed book.

With a thoughtful tilt of his head, he pondered the question, another symphony of silence falling between them. After a moment, he shook his head.
"Some things can't be helped."

Jasper would give a playful giggle. His voice sounded, cute for a moment. He would enjoy the silence, sipping and smiling. Allowing his eyes to close even through the effeminate boy's words. He would respond playfully, a bit of mischief in his emptiness.
"I wonder what your face will look like when I do it anyways."

With a thoughtful tilt of his head, he began to contemplate the implication of that statement. His stoic side was armed with snide remarks which had no reason to be as sarcastic as they were, but his curious side was simply that. Curious.
"Only someone impossible believes they can do the impossible."

This stranger was captivating. The stoic expression undersold just how expressive this boy's eyes were. As an artist, Jasper was extremely attentive to details. Each flicker and shift in his gaze was an entirely separate portrait of depth. Jasper would quietly observe this, letting the quiet build between them.
The quiet would too soon break, and Jasper would come back to reality as it did. Ear pain? Jasper would assume whatever nen made his earlobes like that made his ears super sensitive. That would explain the blood from earlier. Jasper would draw a breath as though he was going to say something, then paused. He would seem distant for a moment before flipping to a blank page of his sketchbook.
A gentle brush of his finger would cause watercolors to erupt, changing and moving dynamically across the page. In an instant, he would have a picture. Half of Nep's face with semi-circles to indicate sound waves. As they got closer to his ear the colors would become more dark and harsh, with crack-like lines to indicate pain. Jasper would then look up and tilt his head in the opposite direction. Maybe this makeshift means of communication would be easier for them.
