Every morning was the same. The vigilant knight rose before the sun and carried a pot of tea out to the beach, where she would meditate and watch sunrise. Today was no exception, except she did not leave. Usually when another person came into sight, that was a sign for her to continue her routine. But today, she stayed.
She donned her uniform, her posture perfect, her hair glistening in the sunlight. She truly did look the part of a heroine. With her favorite teacup in hand, and the other resting on the pommel of her beloved sword, her family's precious heirloom, she stared on at the ocean, taking deep, thoughtful breaths, as passersby came and went, minding their own.
There was much to be done, but where to start?

"What are you doing here?"
She spoke softly from somewhere behind Amon'i, though her tone was as neutral and disinterested as it ever was. She had fallen back into state of numbness overnight, despite the meeting from before. That morning, she had contemplated trying to find the park again herself... but laziness had won over.
She had listened to people coming and going without much care, and once she was certain they were gone, Keza had dressed herself in her scarves, harem pants, and tiny top as per usual. Forgoing her shoes, she had left and simply... wandered.
When she ended up on the beach, the last person she had expected to see was the busy body of a Knight, who never seemed to stay still. She always had some task in mind, some behavior she needed to perfect. So what was she doing?
After speaking, Kisaiya came over to sit about five feet away from Amon'i. She pulled her knees up to her chest and gently wrapped her arms around them, staring at the ocean rather than at the Knight.
"Are you meditating?"

The Knight said nothing until her Angel was curled up beside her, lost in reverie. She darted her eyes over, to study the girl, before returning her gaze to the ocean. Exhaling sharply, she folded her knees beneath herself, and assumed a butterfly style position. It was improper, but with her meditation broken and no one else around, it didn't really matter.
"I was," she said with her usual monotone. "Now, I am contemplating. The looming threats of this foreign place bring me great unease. The skies have a constant look of dissatisfaction, and the Cultist attack has stirred an everlasting filth into the air, and yet..."
She paused, sighing. "If you look at all the smiling faces, you would think it nothing more than a bad dream."

Wow. That was... intense.
Kisaiya simply sat there for a moment, turning to look at the other people as they milled about their daily lives. She hadn't paid much attention to the attack, despite its relevancy to her Destiny. She knew of it, and knew the basic details... but nothing more.
She preferred it that way.
"Honestly... Its probably easier that way. They can enjoy this moment, even if it's their last." She shrugged slightly, watching one family as the parents swung their child up and into the water, all of them laughing. "Its... out of love. For each other. For themselves."

"Perhaps that is the very reason I do not understand it. Emotion was forbidden for me, from birth. Despite the fact that Zadkiel clung to me in our youth, I was never allowed to see him as anything more than a tool. Yet, he constantly announces his "love" for me. Thus, I see this world for what it is, and for what it will be. If we cannot salvage it, then nothing can."

Kisaiya remained silent for a moment, staring out at the people as they went about their lives. She knew the church was a terrible place, and had even experienced it firsthand. What she couldn't understand was the loyalty these people had to such a soul-sucking institution.
"Do you have any happy memories?" She asked quietly.

"Hmm," she hummed quietly, considering the question. The fact that she had to think about it was probably answer enough.
"Watching Zadkiel's growth, I suppose. He was paired with me simply to give me challenge. I was, for lack of better word, perfect, and he... Most considered him a disgrace, but he has sharpened up over the years."

Kisaiya fell silent again. She didn't have a response for that. The fact that the only moment of happiness this woman could find was somebody else's growth... the Church had really done a number on her.
She hummed a noncommittal response and simply sat there with Amon'i for a moment.

With a little chuckle, she added, "And I suppose your happiness occurred before your arrival here." She glanced at the girl, reading her. She knew her destiny, but did she believe it? That was the question.

"I find happiness wherever I can, even here," she said simply. She looked around them for a moment until she saw a couple, holding hands and walking towards the water. She pointed towards them.
"I find happiness in stories. Like theirs. Young love. Or the family with their child. I might have been forced here... The Church took away my life. I won't let them take my happiness too."

Amon'i simply nodded. That was fair enough.
"They aren't invalid, your views of the Church. Many share your skepticism and dislike, especially those who were taken away from a perfectly good life, much like yourself. I know no better, because I was born into it. But such is my cause. If not a devoted paladin, then what am I?"

"A person."
Kisaiya said it simply, and while she knew she could elaborate, that seemed like answer enough.

Amon'i shook her head.
"And what is a person without a purpose?"

"Free to follow their desires."

"Touché," she said, returning her gaze to the ocean. "I suppose I still have much to learn about what makes a person a person. But then, does not everyone?"

Kisaiya nodded, glancing at Amon'i. It was strange to be sitting here with her like this, talking with so little animosity or bitterness. She reached down and began to lightly run her finger through the sand.
"Life is supposed to be a journey... discovery." She shrugged slightly. "I don't think anybody has it all figured out."

"Some would believe that they do," she said, closing her eyes. "I used to think I had everything I needed, and would need, however... I now realize that is not the case. Despite my mission, I find myself dissatisfied."

"Easy solution. Find something to satisfy you."
Keza gave a slight shrug of her shoulders.
"What is something you've always wanted to learn?"

"Nie wiem," she said with a shake of her head. "My desires will be fulfilled in time. It is out of my control."

“Nothing is out of your control,” Keza said quietly. She sighed softly and gave a shake of her head. This was a losing argument, she knew. She had it with the priests, upon her initial arrival. All of the talk about destiny and fate was something she always struggle with, down to her very core. How could anything be predetermined? How could somebody not have a say in their own life?
