Thirteen year old Kisaiya stood with her mother, gripping the woman's skirts as she stared at the church. The village itself looked as if it were frozen in time, and the Priests that gathered to greet her made her skin crawl. The little blonde Roma turned her gaze up to her mother, who was speaking in broken English with the head priest. She meshed her teeth tightly together. English... She hated the language.
Turning, she left, and nobody stopped her. She went around the church, looking at the beautiful scenery. This was to be her new home...
She hated it.
She jingled with every step, her traditional scarves lined with bells, all gifts from her Caravan. Her feet were bare, despite the cold. She huffed quietly, giving a fierce, noisy shake of her head.
She. Hated. It. Here.

"Is someone there?"
Dymtre would ask as he heard the sounds of bells and footsteps approaching. He was currently behind the church doing his daily prayers. He would turn his head to face the direction of the noise. He would smile. It was a warm and inviting smile.
"Hello."

Keza froze as soon as she heard a voice, turning to see a boy about her own age. She narrowed her eyes and took a step back.
"I... Sorry. I didn't think anyone was out here." Her voice was soft, her accent lilting. Her Caravan had ensured she could speak and understand fluent English, but no matter how hard they tried, they had never managed to rid her of her Traveller's accent.
She glanced around. Nobody had followed her out here: not the Priests, and not the people from her Caravan. Slowly, she began to approach the strange boy, each step filling the air with tinkling bells.

He chuckled. It was a light almost song like sound.
"Oh do not worry, I come out here to be alone. It can get loud in the church at times and it's easier for me out here. Where the only noise is nature's song."

She made a face at his description, crossing her arms over her chest. It took her a moment to realize he couldn't exactly see her defiant posture. Slowly, her arms uncrossed and fell to her side.
"What... do you come out here to do?" She asked quietly.

He shrugged.
"To pray, to think, sometimes just to listen to the world around me. The world we live in is such a beautiful place, don't you think?"

"Uh... Yeah. Sure..."
This boy looked like he was her age, but if she listened to him, she would think he was much younger... More naive. More innocent. Was this how all outsiders were?
She lightly kicked at the ground with her bare foot, staring at the boy.
"Do you... live here, then?"

Dymtre nodded.
"I was born and raised here. This is the only home, only family, I have ever known."
He chuckled.
"You're the first person outside of my family I've ever met actually."

"Thats..."
She was going to say weird, but in actuality... How different was it from her own Caravan? She had met other people, of course, but only barely, in passing. She hadn't spent much time with anyone outside of her family.
Slowly, she moved to sit near him, careful to keep a respectful distance between them. Folding her legs, she perched slightly, and turned her attention to the scenery around herself. It was beautiful... she had to admit that.
"How old are you?" She asked quietly.

"I'm 14, How old are you? If I may ask? I apologize if it is rude to ask. I've been told that isn't an appropriate question to ask a lady... but I can't even guess at your age when I can't see you."
He would say with another small chuckle.

"I'm 13."
Keza gave a slight shrug of her shoulders, glancing back in the direction she had come. It was rude to ask age? That didn't make any sense to her.

"Ah! Really then I guess I'm really lucky that the first new person I met is almost the same age as me!"
He would say excitedly.

She shrunk back ever so slightly from his excitement, staring at him, knowing full well he couldn't see the suspicion that flashed through her red eyes.
"Are you the only... kid around here?"

He shook his head. Not at all! There are two others they are a little older than me. But they are in training to become sacred knights.

Sacred this and holy that, prayer and meditation... There was no way she was going to fit in, here. She wrapped her arms around her waist, fighting the sudden wave of nausea that always hit her at the thought of losing her family. They were going to leave her here, where everybody seemed totally obsessed with their weird belief system.
She bit her lip, staring down at her feet. They even dressed differently than her people. Would she be expected to leave her scarves and bells behind? Would they want her to convert?
"What do... you do for fun around here?"

Dymtre hesitated for the first time.
"I, uh, don't really get to play... the other kids play fight to practice their swordsmanship or play tag to sharpen their skills... but everyone is very careful around me. So I'm not really included in much..."

"Is it because you're blind?"
She blinked and turned to look at him again. Just because he was blind didn't mean he shouldn't have all of the same opportunities as the other kids.

His smile dropped a little.
"My blindness is one of the reasons, yes. But its also because of the power I hold within me."

The power...
Oh no.
"Whats... your name?" She asked softly, open suspicion in her tone.

"Oh! I'm so sorry, I forgot that is something one is supposed to do."
He would turn to where she was and hold out a hand.
"My name is Dymtre Vovkokyle, it is a pleasure to meet you!"
