“….How long did this one last?”
One of the greatest hidden gems of Telluride City was a small, run down little corner lot only a block or so away from Tent City. Once upon a time, it was most likely a beautiful place to stop and get a drink, but a lack of funds, lack of inspiration, or a lack of attention had taken its toll on the place. The lighting even in prime hours was a dull, depressing shade of yellow, the seats were worn from use, and the patronage was exhausted enough to keep to their own little groups. The bartender was the same woman that was there, six nights a week, serving drinks that were often a little heavy handed… at least for the customers she liked.
Ripley sidled up to the counter and slid onto her favorite bar stool without taking her eyes off of the man that was, until just a minute or two prior, her “roommate.” How he managed to keep his feet underneath him with THAT MUCH alcohol just… raging through him… She gave a shake of her head and clicked her tongue against the back of her teeth, obvious disapproval written all over her face. “What a waste of human fucking space…” she muttered, though her quiet tone was almost swallowed by the combination of dull, roaring combinations and the music that she was pretty sure was some kind of country? But wasn’t country supposed to only play here on…. “Uh. Starr? What day of the week is it?”
“Why, it’s a root-toot-tootlin’ Tuesday there, partner,” Star said in the absolute most obnoxious Southern drawl she could manage, complete with the tipping of an invisible ten gallon hat in Ripley’s direction. The girl groaned slightly, placing her hands on her face, fingers sprawled, and resting her elbows on the countertop. “It’s only fucking Tuesday? You’re shitting me. You mean, I’ve only lived with that moron for FOUR DAYS? I thought it had been SIX, at LEAST….”

Hunger. One of the things he felt that could be sated quite easily. No, not hunger of the body only, but hunger of the soul as well. Eszrai was starving in both ways and he was drawn to a specific run down looking area of Telluride City. It wasn't the first time he found himself in such a location, so he knew there was always an abundance of malice, food and drink to be found. The dull atmosphere, the poor lighting, the smell of drunken stupor mixed with the aggression and confusion it instilled into a person... it was like a slice of heaven to the Isgrim lad.
Eszrai entered the oh so fine establishment dressed in his usual getup: a plain grey hoodie, jeans, black boots, and a belt with an empty gun holster attached to it. He looked around at the scene before him, his eyes scanning every seat and stool before walking up to the counter. What a perfect place to relax and take a load off...
Sitting down on a stool right beside the tall and slender girl, he stared at the clearly drunk man before shifting his gaze to the bartender. With a snap of his fingers he had a barrel shaped mug in his hands made of, of course, his own Nen, black, red and dark in nature. Sliding the mug towards the other end of the counter, he spoke with a voice that lacked respect.
"Hey lady, fill this up for me," Eszrai said before pausing. "Hold on." With his other hand he created a simple coin, flipped it, and watched as it pinged on the tabletop. Heads. Mouthing the word "huh", he returned his attention to the bartender woman. "Guess the drunk man lives. Ok, now fill this up for me." For another time, his eyes shifted towards the girl he was sitting beside. She looked sick of the drunk man and tired of whatever events that occurred for the past few days. Or weeks maybe? He liked it. "You don't have to live with that waste of space, you know. I would show you.... but I landed on heads."

Nen. Every day, every night, the first time that somebody nearby utilized their ability, it was like sending a shiver of absolute ecstasy through her. She didn't spend too much time thinking about it... When it was happening, she was lost in the throes of.... whatever it was. And by the time it was over, her mind was already focused on where it was coming from, how much of a threat, what she needed to do... and all of the escape routes nearby. Still, living with such an idiot for how many days was like living in a land of nothingness... The moment the creature next to her started using his ability, it was like lightning flashing through her, and she could feel the chains as if they wrapped physically around her. The cold sensation of metal against her skin was enough to make her jerk ever so slightly. She straightened her back just a bit, the flaps of her trench coat falling to the side to expose the outfit beneath... if you could call it that. She wore a shirt that just barely covered her chest and shorts that hung on the bones of her hips. She was muscular, but there was no deep indention that showed exactly why she was so confident in herself. She shifted her weight ever so slightly, something most people wouldn't notice, and placed the bottom of her boot against the unwavering wall of the bar. It allowed her freedom to move, and move quickly, if it came down to it. As was, her chains seemed to slither out of her and onto the ground. To the normal person, they would be completely invisible, something nobody could see.... To those that could see souls, they looked like four lengths of glowing blue chain, the same unnatural shade of her eyes, that coiled together at her feet. One began to slowly snake out, as if fearful of making noise (not that it would) towards Eszrai. And then, like a snake, it struck and wrapped itself around his leg. He wouldn't feel anything at all, but his soul would be laid bare before her as she turned her gaze towards him. Her eyes seemed to almost glow as she read his intentions, his emotions, his feelings, everything. "Hey there, hotstuff, maybe stick to what the bar actually offers. Heads or not, there's no excuse for being rude." Primary Ability - First Chain ; By connecting her first chain with another character, she is able to read their very soul. While wrapped around a person, it cuts their Dexterity by 10% per post, stacking, and allows Ripley to read their emotions and intentions. (Can only summon one.)

"It's pretty rude to deny a paying customer his due service. Geez..." His interest was now peaking, with wide, childish eyes he took extreme note of the woman's attire... and nodded. It was wild, with lack of... well, seemingly any forethought for what could have happened today; what could have been said to them. The chaos of their 'outfit' sparked a desire for Eszrai to follow suit... some day.
A simple blink was all it took and he knew everything he needed to know about this woman's bloodline. It gave him a sense of highness, smoke of the forbidden green high mixed with traces of cyanide and mercury. Yet despite knowing in advance, despite seeing in plain view what was hidden from the other patrons, what happened next still caught him off guard, or rather the audacity of the move just made. He opened his mouth to give a snarky, yet somewhat sincere compliment of the lady's Nen before closing it instantly, his mood shifting like the gears in a car.
Eszrai, with narrow, burning red eyes stared down the woman. The hate was extremely apparent and he was no longer making an effort to limit himself; his Malgrimace Nen was visible to all if they were paying attention in the form of a faint, yet potent aura.
"Who told you to touch me?" He asked rhetorically. His eyes shot down to his leg and he began to feel sluggish. So this was the chain's effect? Eszrai scoffed loudly at the offensive gesture. "I don't care about being touched... but again... just like last time... another girl touches my soul. But... unlike last time..."
Eszrai grinned sadistically before picking up the dark coin he made earlier. He twisted it in between his fingers before resting it in the middle of his index and middle, aiming the coin at the bartender. "I'm feeling nice," he said, "I really want to see what you're going to do with these chains of yours. So I won't kill you and I won't humiliate you... yet... but someone has to die. Why not her?"
Truly, he wanted to see if the woman would make any attempt to stop him. He felt his soul being violated still, and so he took advantage of it, screaming in his own mind and inner self every foul and evil thing he'd do to the people around him... as well as the large possibility that he'd do absolutely nothing.

She felt the change in him almost as soon as it happened, and it jolted through her entire body like a heatwave, making her weak in the knees for the worst of reasons. It reminded her so much of her father, it was almost.... comforting. And that fact alone was enough to - despite what damage it would unwittingly do to her cause - to make her hate him. She wanted to grab him by the back of his head and bounce his stupid, twisted face into the bar top long before he managed to really piss her off. For the briefest of moments, she saw the similarities between the two... men?... people... even with how few they were. He wasn't big, strong-looking, or burly. He wasn't a monster of a man. He didn't have rugged features or dark eyes... Quite the opposite, in fact. And yet, for just a second, he looked exactly like her father.
"Wow," she muttered when he was finally done with his bullshit bad-guy speech. "Classic. Mmm. So original." She rolled her eyes, but her chains continued to rattle, the noise the only thing keeping her grounded away from her rage. This creature was going to do real damage, she knew that in her very soul, and she was already building what defense she could against it... Which is to say, not very much at all.
His attempt to distract her was interesting, to say the least. Very rarely did people pick up on exactly what she could do so quickly, and more often than not, they just froze in the face of it all. She couldn't remember the last time somebody had ever bothered even TRYING to defend themselves against her... but screaming thoughts? She could feel the sheer emotion that went into the action, but the thoughts themselves were as far from her as anybody else. She could feel the ebb and flow of his intentions, the inconsistency, but there was nothing else there for her.
His soul didn't change just because his thoughts got loud. But at least she could figure out how he thought her ability worked.
She glanced over at the bartender, who was fighting to try to hide the fear in her eyes. The woman was used to being rough and tumble, serving the worst that the city had to offer... but Nen was still new, even years later, even here. And when you didn't have it, you were at an obvious disadvantage. In fact, when you had Nen, sometimes you were at a disadvantage. Like now.

He was feeling great. Just like he though, there was an abundance of malice here and this person, his new target of interest, was producing even more of it. What else could a guy ask for in a girl? Vivid images of all the ways he could rip her and these patrons around him apart flooded his mind, he himself lost in his own dark soul before slowly returning to reality. Eszrai licked his lips. There was no one here able to resist him, not like the emotionless eclipse of an angel.
"You're right," Eszrai admitted with a sigh, "this is classic. Unoriginal. Almost... expected? Kinda like these chains." He gestured towards the ground before his own Nen began to seep from his skin. "I didn't expect you to reach my soul and remain, uh, sane. But I'm glad you did. Broken girls are as much fun as cocky guys. Know what I'm talking about?" Of course, Eszrai himself was only voicing the thoughts of the malice within himself, he didn't know what he was talking about at any moment, but boy did he agree with his words.
He felt himself become drained again. The chains, he nearly forgot again. While they weren't a problem right now, he knew eventually they'd sap him of his agility or worse; while that in itself also isn't a problem, movement is something he enjoyed. Ah well, he thought. With a smile, he used the coin between his fingers, the dark coin he made with his Nen, and launched it full speed at the bartender's forehead. "...Dead girls are fun though. Some of them not all."
Not even bothering to see the bloody aftermath, he yawned, staring at the chain girl with unnaturally bright eyes. After his yawn, he started laughing. Slowly at first, then louder before pointing at the her. Malgrimace Nen colored red and black and shaped like chains similar to her own began to form quickly, one of them lunging at the chain girl at full speed and wrapping around her.
"See? I can do it too. With similar effects. You're not special, chain girl. Anyway, don't move too much. You're as fragile as a leaf or some shit..."
Eszrai then nested his head in a hand, looking at his target with anticipation. "What else can you do? Who else should we off? What other strange outfits do you have? Jani would probably consider that slutty... she's one to talk... she dresses similar to you, just a shirt. No bra. Ugh... I take it back, I don't like your outfit." Eszrai shook his head. "If you're gonna go shirtless just go topless. Everyone has breasts and I'm absolutely positive someone will hate you for it... a win win for the both of us."
Current Dexterity: 48.6
PA - Eszranias: Eszrai can use his Impure Eyes to copy and alter the last negative effect used on or near him, turning it into a buff equal to his Wits to a stat of his choice or a de-buff equal to his Wits to a target of his choice. Eszrai can only place a buff/de-buff on one person at a time.
Current Effect (First Chain): Eszrai's chain is wrapped around Rie, applying a -10 Constitution de-buff to her for as long as the chain is connected.
