Parties in the apocalypse? More common than you'd think. One would expect things to be doom, gloom, and gunshots all the time but, some people like to go out burning. At first glance they're dangerous sure. Anyone looking to start their villain arc has a great starting place with lots of people gathered. However, that person then has to contend with a room full of people crazy or confident enough to go to a party in Telluride after dark. That usually doesn't end well. Crazy or confident yet to be determined, Elial was on his way.
He was dressed stylishly, his shirt open down his chest to reveal his tattoos. He had been extremely busy with work and hadn't had a night to himself for a few weeks now. So, he was going to have fun! He'd be exhausted the next day, but at least he could sleep in. He deserved this, he kept telling himself as he got showered and ready after another long day at work. Doing one last check as he went out, he made sure he had his wallet, invitation, and his look together.
He got the invitation from a cute guy at the coffee shop downtown. It was shady, but the party was only a few blocks away from his apartment. Plus, the sun wouldn't fully set until after he arrived. Seemed safe enough, right? Elial set out, making sure to quadruple lock his door and set the alarms. About half way through the walk he looked down, just now thinking to check just who's party this was.

Elial would feel an eerie calm as he trudged toward the mystery party. The streets, usually bustling with activity, now stood completely still. The buildings loomed over, deflecting the setting sun's dying light & casting a cold shadow against the desolation. Of course, this was just another Tuesday in Telluride; the days were warm, the nights were cruel, & everything in between went unspoken.
As Elial checked the invitation, he would immediately notice two things: the host was anonymous & the address was just a street name. Hell, there wasn't even a specified time, just "the fun begins after dark" haphazardly scribbled on the bottom of the card. How many red flags is that??
Like a snake slithering from its hole, a vague shape promptly slinked out from the shadows of a nearby alley, accompanied by a rhythmic clicking that echoed through the air. "Ay bruh, you tryna buy summa that 'good' good?" A hoarse voice whispered over Elial's shoulder. Though, he would find no one if he turned around.

The calm may seem eerie to most, but it induced anxiety in Elial for an entirely different reason. He wasn't used to quiet. He wasn't used to just being alone with his thoughts. He was always so busy that he barely had time to consider what his internal dialogue may be. Instead of confronting that, he'd distract himself with the city sunset. It was ominous and foreboding, but that was somehow more comforting.
Whatever comfort he had salvaged was immediately lost as he ascertained the details of the party. He was the safety guy. He knew that this was at best inadvisable and at worst, fucking stupid. He weighed the options carefully but ultimately decided he wasn't a bitch and he wasn't going back home after spending 45 minutes getting ready. Furthermore, as the safety guy, he knew what to look out for. If shit did hit the fan he was more than equipped to get out if needed.
At the words behind his back, he'd instantly tense up a bit. He'd turn slowly, seeing nothing behind him. Nothing in the spirit world either, which was interesting. He'd instead turn towards the clicking, hopefully finding the source of the strange voice. To make the process easier, he'd play along. He'd give an easy himbo smile before speaking, his own voice pleasant and suave. "Depends on how good the 'good' good is and what kind of good the 'good' good is, sound good?" Hopefully, his awkward humor would resonate with the stranger.

Elial would notice that the clicking seemed to be orbiting around him now. It was a strange three beat pattern; two soft clicks before a heavy clank, each sequence slightly louder than the last. Whatever that was about, it was clear that his time was limited, assuming it wasn't already too late to react.
"I'on even know half'a what you just said, I ain't even gon' lie," the voice snickered, clearly under the influence of whatever the hell "that 'good' good" was. "You lookin' for a party or somethin', ain't it?"
The shadows seemed to converge in front of him all at once, the shape of a smoky silhouette briefly visible before a very hot & desirable man stepped out. In his right hand were two magnetic balls, one between his pinkie & ring finger & the other between his middle & index fingers. In his left hand was a dollar bill of indistinguishable value.

The clicking was immediately threatening. This meant it was time for action. Elial would secretly haunt his wallet in his pocket before instantly dispersing into static. In his spot remained only a wallet, radiating softly with static. Now out of sight, he'd dash 20 feet away from the clearly inebriated voice, hopefully out of harm's way. Usually, this technique shook off lingering effects, so he was optimistic. He'd expected things to get dicey, but this early? He'd remain silent, internally pouting over the fact that the fun hadn't even started.
Despite his silence, he was intrigued by the words of his aggressor. Maybe this was just a misunderstanding, maybe this guy was here for the party. It would explain why he's high as a kite right now. Regardless, he wasn't going to reveal himself to confirm. Instead, his wallet would stand up and a folded piece of paper would rise out. As it did, it would open to reveal the invitation.
As the shadows reformed, two instincts kicked in. The first was to immediately mark the strange man so there wouldn't be any more hiding. The second was to take a moment and look closely. Fuck he was just Elial's type. As his cheeks got red he suddenly really hoped this was a misunderstanding. Hell, he was half tempted to make a pass from the spirit world. He would have too, if he wasn't under threat of an attack. Regardless, pretty privilege kept the intrigued blonde from getting aggressive with the hottie. It also kept him from paying attention to the detail of the metal balls that seemed tied to the technique he just tried to evade.

In place of what could have been, in another time, a nefarious monologue, was the dropped jaw of a genuinely horrified man. "Holy shit, I jus' vaporized a celeb wit my damnin' good looks," he squinted at the wallet, staring intently at what he literally could not comprehend as static. "I jus' wanna bag the hoes not kill 'em,"
He pocketed the magnets & cautiously approached the wallet, noxious fumes emanating from his mouth as he staggered forward. Needless to say, at this point in time, the strange individual didn't seem like much of a threat, but he definitely wasn't someone to underestimate either. After all, Elial had no way of knowing what those magnets did & if he was currently affected by them.
The man tilted his head at the invitation, unable to discern whether it was there before. He knelt over the wallet & stuffed the bill inside, as if to pay respects to the person he thought he just murdered, before confirming the "details" of the invitation. Maybe he was a believer in karma? "Got damn I shouldn't'a hit the good so hard, the hell am I even doin' out here anyway shiii..."
The red flags may have been replaced with simple confusion & a side of brain damage, but the faint sounds of the curious clicking would remain in Elial's ears.

Elial is a rational man. He has a master's in criminal psychology, military training, and is known for his capabilities as an agent. This situation was in his hands, a bullet to the back of this man's head would eliminate the threat and he could go on with his night out. Killing him wasn't an issue. It was a shame he was so hot but, he had killed men over far less. In fact... while the man seemed bewildered he summoned a gun in his hand, lining up a shot. Taking one last look at his face before...
he heard "...bag the hoes."
With speed unheard of he violently flung himself out of the aether, doing a back handspring over the man reaching for his wallet, landing in front of him in a stunning static flourish. His eyes are full of sexy secret agent energy and discord mod levels of determination as he looks over his shoulder and runs his hand through his hair. After this impressive display, he'd turn, giving his sexiest voice as he said
"Hoe, reporting for bagging. You headed to the party too?"
Call him stupid, call him down horrendous, but this man had a purpose.
"Save the cash. We can get some drinks while we're there."

The man took three staggered steps backwards; the first because there was a gun in his face & he momentarily forgot where he was; the second because daaamn he just brought a bitch back from the dead & they were moving like that; the third because, well, the 'good' was apparently no match for his godlike rizz, but that was no surprise.
With a scoff, he offered his hand for a firm shake, red daggers piercing through his cloudy eyes. "Julian, call me The Rizzler -- the 'the' is included, y'feel?" He neatly folded the cash & slipped it in with his magnets, a sly grin threatening his lips as he caught recollection of the task of hand. "Host is my homie, y'comin'?" He started forward, glancing over his shoulder with an arm outstretched. "These dudes know a real good time, jussayin'!"

Julian's scoff would cause Elial to give an easy smile. He'd take the open hand and return the firm shake. Now, he was down horrendous but he wasn't stupid. He was aware of the red flags and dangers this situation presented. He would be twice as cautious as before and, next time he wouldn't hesitate.
"The Rizzler eh? Nice to meet you." He'd return the sly grin with a calm, confident smile of his own. "Friends call me Geist." An obscure name but, for those who knew, one tied to plenty of bodies. He'd pocket his wallet and let his hands rest in his pockets as Julian continued. "Yeah, some guy gave me an invite earlier. He also said it'd be a good time. Seemed dangerous but, that makes it fun." He'd follow Julian, keeping a close eye on him and his own surroundings. Hopefully, Mr. Rizzler was telling the truth.

Julian led Elial through the narrow alleyway of which he emerged, popping various joints in his body as he theatrically twisted & contorted past obstacles that cluttered up the path. Normally being led down a dark alley was reg flag enough, & this circumstance was no different, but Elial witnessed plenty of plain sight crimes that such a slender space felt like a reprieve. After all, the many obstructions & debris presented plenty of options should he feel the need to retaliate. "Word of advice," Julian broke the silence, stopping in front of a gated door that presumably led inside. "Careful what you say 'round here, wouldn't want a pretty boy like you gettin' scuffed up too bad," he flashed a toothy grin before pulling the door open, "Whenever you're ready, Geist," he added with a purr, slinking down a steep staircase & descending into darkness.
"Hey," a familiar monotone voice droned in his head before he even had the chance to approach the door. "You're about to join a gang. Don't do anything stupid,"
...& there it was. He couldn't help but wonder if Sylvye had orchestrated this, without his consent, & on his day off no less.

Elial followed along with an easy smile. Being behind Julian was an excellent position for him. He could readily kill or defend the white-haired cutie if he needed to. He would be way too high to notice. His smile widened further as the path narrowed. This party was either really exclusive or really dangerous, and he was excited either way.
Julian's words would cause his eyes to light up with thought. On one hand, this was a red flag. On the other, he got called pretty, and this was grounds to ignore red flags... right? He'd respond, his tone smooth as ever.
"I'm a friend who likes to make friends. I don't start trouble." Then, once Julian opened the door, he would chuckle and say "Ready when you are Mr. The Rizzler." As Elial spoke, he'd give an adorkable smirk with some goofy finger guns. Finally, he was going to get to the fun part. Though, once he heard Sylvie, his goofy demeanor would become deadly serious after Julian turned.
"Excuse me, what? First, why are you watching me??? Second, give me the relevant details boss lady."
Elial has mixed feelings. He's pissed this wasn't going to be fun and more pissed that he was under surveillance this whole time. He was also extremely grateful he was being looked out for and that he has a super genius to prepare him for the dangers ahead. He'd follow Julian, but pay close attention to what his boss had to say... even if it pissed him off.
