Backstory
Growing up in an orphanage in upstate New York, Soni never knew her parents nor her name. Everyone just called her Sarah for some reason, but she never really liked it. She felt that it was out of place.
Her deviancy from normalcy can best be accredited to the fact that she showed up on the doorstep of the orphanage without a mouth. Not only no mouth, but no tongue, no teeth, and no vocal chords. There were holes in the side of her cheeks to allow her to breath and eat liquid foods through them (which is quite a hassle, though one she's gotten used to), but she could not move her jaw. Of course, this wasn't very appealing to any child in the orphanage, and certainly not parents. The ladies at the orphanage gave her a mask, but in any case they had to tell the parents about her defect. Because of this, there was never a family that wanted her.
Regardless of being a mute, she got along just fine with the other kids. The only time she didn't is when they wanted her to take her mask off. Of course, they were little kids, so the fuss would last for a day, two at most, and they'd go back to being best friends again.
This continued all the way up until she was about 9. That's when things worsened. All the kids she grew up with in the orphanage moved on, and all found their respective homes. As each one found happiness, Soni lost her own, as if there was only so much to go around. Each bed left empty was soon filled, and the kids who filled them got meaner and meaner. They realized they didn't have to be friends with "mask girl". They could just ignore her, and make her invisible. At first, Soni was unfazed, but emotion and loneliness can not be ignored forever; slowly and steadily she descended into depression.
At 11 years old, she began attempting to run away. After the 8th failed attempt, she decided maybe she'd stop trying to run away from the orphanage; it clearly wasn't working. Instead, she would run away from life entirely. Thinking this over in one corner of the room, she heard one of the girls (Livvy) cracking jokes about her. Soni walked up to the girl, her fists clenched. Livvy simply laughed.
"Honey, what are you gonna do? Yell at me? How bout you just run away again. Hopefully this time it'll work!" The other girls laughed in response.
Soni's fists were a blood rage red, and vampire white where she was squeezing with all her strength. "S-s-screw. You."
The room went silent. Every girl's eye went wide, including Soni's. Her entire world was frozen. Her blood ran cold. She had spoke. 12 years of her life she could never say a single word, but in this moment, she was so angry it was as if her brain didn't care about what was physically impossible anymore. It combined every voice it had ever heard and created it's own; a voice of tens of people, ranging from her best childhood friends to every lady in the orphanage. It shocked her. Excited her. Terrified her. Confused her. Energized her. But she couldn't let her inner explosion of mixed emotions come across as weakness. She had to stick to this.
It was almost as if Soni had taken Livvy's voice; Livvy found she was at a loss for words when she attempted to speak. She had to say something though. It was her move.
"W-what did you just say?" Livvy stuttered, also attempting to not seem terrified.
Soni smiled a devilish smile. "I said. Screw. YOU." And with that Soni tried to shout, but along with volume came force. A sudden blast, seemingly originating from where Soni's mouth would be, erupted forward, sending all the girls back a foot or two. Every single one of them broke down crying, some of them screaming and running away, others just curled up on the floor in the fetal position.
As for Soni, she was overwhelmed with guilt and terror. Tears filled her eyes as she ran back to her corner of the room and broke down, hugging her knees tightly.
It wasn't long before every caretaker found out what had happened. Just as confused and scared as the younger girls, they immediately called the authorities. This was the day Soni's life was changed forever. At first, however, it was not for the better.
Long story short, after that was hell on earth. Humans have a tendency to want to control everything. When something new comes along never heard of, mankind rushes to take it for its own, and that included her unique talents. Over the next year, each day was one of constant testing; her skin poked and prodded, her blood and spinal fluid drained, her brain scanned, her throat touched and squeezed, a neverending cycle of violation. If resistance was sensed, it was met with electric shocks, slaps, or promises of no meals. Night after night she only wanted it to end, but the scientists knew how much she hated this life. In return, all they did was make sure their science project wasn't ended prematurely, ridding her of anything she could use to end it all. Several times she tried to use her own voice, trying to scream so loud it'd kill her. She figured why not? It's not like she could wear out her vocal chords. But all it left her was burst eardrums, which meant more punishment from her tormenters due to unheard commands.
One night, her sound-proofed room's door opened, but no scientist came in to rip her from her room. Just an open door. She couldn't fight her worried curiosity. She peeked outside the room to find a dimly lit hallway. Then another door opened. Naturally, Soni followed the doors, with another opening as she walked through each one. Behind the last door was a scent and feeling Soni hadn't felt in what felt like a century; the outdoors. A crowd of crickets sounded, as if to applaud the girl on her escape. The only thing that broke the tiny insects' cheers was a woman's voice. "You're free, Sarah."
Soni jumped and looked up to see a gentle, dark complexioned face adorned by a braid lying on the shoulder beside it. "It's nice to finally meet you in person. My name is Veronica. I'll explain everything in a bit, but first let's get in the car and get out of here."
Soni knew it was never a good idea to ride with strangers, but nothing could be worse. She complied and entered the car, having no idea that she had gone from nothing could be worse to nothing could be better in that one night.
Veronica was the daughter of one of the scientists, a scientist that never interacted with Soni, only took notes of the various results. His name was Dr. Rupert, and he had always felt horrible for her, and knew that even the most groundbreaking of science wasn't worth breaking an innocent girl. So he sent Veronica to take Soni across the country, far away from everyone in that wretched facility.
Soni and Veronica quickly drew close, becoming as close as sisters. The night of the escape they chose a better name. She always hated "Sarah", and, knowing the scientists called her that, Veronica shared her new little sister's hatred of it. Regardless of her life being much harder because of them, Soni's powers gave her a connection to and deep appreciation of sound. She wanted to own that. Thus, together the girls chose the name Soni Vox, based off the Latin roots for sound.
Veronica fascinated Soni with her stories of what the world was like before some "war for power". It had all happened before Soni was born; it was like fairy tales from a distant land. One night Veronica was telling her little sister about how anyone could listen to any song any time they want any where. This was world-changing for Soni. She had heard music in the orphanage, because they had a piano that the teachers would play occasionally, and some of the girls knew how to play. Apparently though, according to Veronica, there were "electric" pianos (which even electricity made no sense... lightning in tiny metal strings?), and music that was entirely electric. And all this music could be listened to anywhere any time. Then Veronica showed her how; she still had an iPod that her father had gifted her as a relic of the past, of sorts.
After hearing of Soni's love for music, Dr. Rupert sent a music device that ran off of qi energy, as well as a pair of cat headphones for her. A note was included: "Though the means can not be justified, I hope this end brings a light to your life that you've never seen before, and a song to your ears that will lighten your precious heart. It will never run out of its energy because your energy will charge it. Enjoy this music, Miss Soni."
After a strangely lengthy night's rest, Soni woke up feeling much more...experienced. Much more healthy, mentally and emotionally. It was a strange day in the girls' household. She was only 13 but seemed to act much older. Plus, she had only been out of the lab for a few weeks, but she seemed completely over it. No fear, no timidity, nothing. Veronica could barely recognize her adopted sister but knew for sure it was indeed the right girl.
Soni mentioned having a normal life, and Veronica suggested in return high school. "Believe it or not, there's an entire school for kids with cool quirks like yours. It's called Cubble academy. Wait.. Cooble? Callba? Oh I don't remember. Point is, if you want a normal life, high school is what you're looking for. And going to a high school with a bunch of kids like you, sounds like the best normal you can get, even though none of you guys are exactly normal. They're holding a town-square conference thing here before too long. I can take you there and you can check it out if you'd like."
Soni agreed. Besides, having friends again sounded nice. Why not? There was also something deeper. Something in her that made her feel like that was just the right decision. As if she was supposed to be there.
Soni shrugged, avoiding expression of her inner assurance. "I guess it's worth a shot. Kalba it is then."
Just when she began getting used to the school and the craziness about it, a massive event changed everything. One moment she was defending her friends, when suddenly the next she woke up in a completely new world, one that seemed out of a dystopian novel.
When she first came over, it was the most turbulence her heart had ever experienced. It was terror, that she could die. Then relief, that she had made it. Confusion as to how it happened. Fascination with the new world. Then, the worst of all, heartbreak, as she had to face the fact that she would never see her big sister again. She prayed, and hoped, and anything a 13 year old girl could do, that Veronica was okay, that somehow that world had made it, or that they were sent somewhere too. Naturally, supernaturally, in whatever way possible. Hopefully Veronica had made it, and was happy, without pain or suffering.
She found a new caretaker in a man named Xapham, not as a replacement or substitute, but as someone that Veronica would have loved, someone she would've supported Soni learning under. Xapham had designed a sort of school for kids like her that had come from the old world into this... different one. Children who had abilities the rest of the world didn't have. In a world where she was a walking controversy, she had no purpose to go anywhere else. So she remained at the school and worked hard. She developed her Qi more than anything, and now here she was, 8 years later, an instructor in Xapham's school with direct accessibility to him. She felt comfortable again, in this new life. She felt stronger than ever before, in Qi, body, mind, heart, and soul. Though, now that she had been here awhile, she had been considering what awaited out in the world for her. And if it'd be worth it to start something out there.
Things had been finally normalizing when it all began happening again; the world began slowly falling apart. Not in a physical sense, like the first time, but in an...atmospheric, sense. Chaos began to plague the small city they were in like a sickness, and peace deteriorated as a symptom. Before she knew it, she was on a beach, defending students that she had spent her life loving; defending them from creatures that came pouring from mysterious anomalies. In a ditch effort to save a comrade that had fallen through one of the portals, Soni dashed in after her. And on the other side she found…
Nothing. Her feet lost contact with the physical, and all she saw was blue; and a bright light. Where am I? she pondered, motionless. Then she felt it, wind blow up from her feet, speeding up at an exponential rate. Her eyes fell from where they faced to see below her buildings all around.
That’s when it all hit: she was falling. She had appeared in the sky itself, several dozens of feet high. And now she was plummeting down toward the roof of a tall building. Thankfully, she had come in from high enough to have time to react, but that also meant that she had enough momentum to kill her on landing if she didn’t do something about it.
As soon as she could think to, she sent out several blasts, both aimed down to slow her momentum, and back to transfer it into forward momentum. Despite her altered course, the impact was rough. Her thin body rolled across the rooftop, the sun-baked pebbles of the surface scraping up her body and covering her in dust.
You've gotta be kidding.. she thought to herself, getting up as quickly as possible. She jogged over to the edge facing the beach and peered toward it. To her confusion, however, it was nothing but peaceful. It was just another day on the beach, as if nothing had happened. Could it be nothing had happened yet, or everything already happened? Did she travel in time?
There was only one thing she could think to do: talk to Xapham.

Head:
TSI Qi Lens: +5 Wits (Upgradable)
With this Soni can now see who has Qi and who doesn't. She can spend 1 round scanning a target and upon doing so she can see what the Targets Qi is. (Can only see the main description of their Qi, not what abilities they have)
Chest:
Hands:
Resonating Echo Speaker (Right Arm): +12 Eng, +10 Spd:
This porous metal gauntlet is used to amplify or absorb sound waves caused by Soni's arm's movements. The sound waves caused by the melody arm can then be manipulated and directed with Qi, causing more damage up to her energy in damage. It can also act as a defense by blocking projectiles with the force of 150% Soni's energy stat, which in turn results in more vibrations that can be used for Soni's technique.

Special:
Vibrating Shield +12 Defense (Special) (Worn on back when not in use)
This vibrating shield is a prototype in defense against Qi attacks. Twice a thread Soni can fully reflect a ranged Qi attack back on the user unless it specifically bypasses item defenses.
Consumables:
Leprechauns Salt x1
The character must throw a handful of salt on the ground, forcing an NPC bad guy to spend a single post counting each and every grain instead of continuing their action.
Trick Candle x1
Once used Soni pulls out a candle that immediately lights on fire. Soni then says "Happy Birthday!" and blows out the candle. Soni gains +50% Dmg to their next attack. Roll a D20 and if you roll a 15 or higher the candle re-ignites and you can repeat the above action. (Per post) candle is destroyed if the fire doesn't come back or at the end of the thread.

Sonokinesis:
Soni has the ability to create any sound with her mind. She can mimic absolutely any voice or sound once she's heard it once. Additionally, she has a sonic memory; think photographic memory, but for sound. Once she's heard a sound she can flawlessly recall (and recreate) it at any point. Eardrums are also very resistant.
2. Sound Aura: A tornado of pure sound spinning around Soni. (DEF + 1/2 ENG) Anyone inside also takes 100% ENG in DMG.
3. Distant Call: Throw voice from Skyrim, essentially. Soni can cast her voice to originate in any point within a 20ft. radius.
4. Sonokinetic Launch: By projecting sound behind her, Soni pushes herself forward adding 1/2 her Eng in speed. She can also use it as a burst that sends her flying in whatever specified direction.
6. Frequency Matching: Upon hearing their voice, Soni can match a person’s natural frequency perfectly, causing her sound-based attacks to shake her target apart.
7. Apollo's Call: Byakugan, but for sound. Soni sends out a tone that she hears bounce back, giving her perfect echolocation for one post
8. Ear Ringer: Soni emits a loud and high pitched sound near the ears of an opponent, or casts a general sound out from her point.
9. Qi resonance:
10. Mental Note:
Qi Mutations:
Soul's Song: After spending time with Drake, Soni's learned how to hear the sound and feel the frequency of people's soul's! Due to this she can now create a frequency that is soothing to the soul. Once Soni sings to a person's soul, their body can be healed for 25% of the last attack they received.
Vibe Vision: Soni can now see an individual person's vibration signature at almost any distance giving her +10 Wits.
Psyche’s Heart, +5 Energy: Once per thread, Sonio is able to summon a bottle of nectar and ambrosia. Heals 50% of the damage taken and boosts her defense by 100% of her energy for four posts. When in a thread with Drake, Soni gains a 50% boost to her energy for the four posts after the bottle is summoned, or can give the bottle to Drake. (This effect can stack, to heal an individual of 100% of the damage taken, but at the cost of the defense and energy boost.)
